Mr. Ian Ram, Chief Operating Officer
Ian Ram is the Chief Operating Officer for the firm. He oversees all operational aspects of the firm in support of Rotella’s quantitative and systematic program offerings, while implementing the firm’s strategic business initiatives. Mr. Ram’s industry experience is extensive, with over 23 years interacting in all facets of futures-related activities for global institutions and advisors.
Prior to joining Rotella, Mr. Ram served in various senior level capacities, most recently as Director, Co-Head of Cross Asset Sales – Americas | Global Execution Services for Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Bank, and as Senior Director, Financial Futures & Options for its predecessor firms: Newedge, Calyon Financial, and Carr Futures. While at Societe Generale, Mr. Ram managed a team dedicated to CTAs, hedge funds, asset managers and proprietary trading firms. His experience includes managing client needs in execution and clearing, as well as coordinating resources such as Onboarding, IT, Compliance, Risk and Operations.
Mr. Ram holds a BA in Economics from Loyola University Chicago.
Rosemarie Rotella, Senior Vice President
Rosemarie Rotella is the Senior Vice President for the firm and serves on the Executive Committee. She manages the day-to-day activities of Rotella’s Bellevue office; coordinates the administrative and operational efforts of the firm; affects the company’s human resources policies and procedures and works on various special assignments. Ms. Rotella is Robert Rotella’s sister.
Prior to transitioning to Senior Vice President, Ms. Rotella served as the President of Rotella from December 1996 until August 2009. In that capacity she oversaw the firm’s general management, contributed to the development of all aspects of the firm, and helped to evolve the firm’s culture to what it is today.
She was Mr. Rotella’s first employee, joining him at Commodities Corporation, a CFTC-registered commodity pool operator and commodity trading advisor, in August 1993. In April 1996 she left Commodities Corp. and began working for Rotella. She oversaw trade execution activities, acted as the principle point of contact for Mr. Rotella on business and personal issues, and managed and evolved operational processes for front and back office activities. Ms. Rotella’s previous experience includes working as a sales associate in the retail brokerage division of Merrill Lynch, a provider of wealth management, securities trading and sales, corporate finance and investment banking services.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Niagara University and a Master of Business Administration degree with concentrations in Finance, Economics and General Management from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
Mr. Dean Crowder,III, Managing Director | Global Head of Strategic Business Development
Dean W. Crowder, III is the Managing Director | Global Head of Strategic Business Development for the firm. He is responsible for leading Rotella’s overall marketing efforts and investor relationships while assisting in strategic business planning initiatives as the firm leverages its deep experience in systematic investing. Mr. Crowder has represented hedge funds to global institutions such as banks, asset management firms, insurance companies, pensions, hedge fund of funds, consultants and family offices for nearly 20 years.
Prior to joining Rotella, Mr. Crowder founded Alpha Alternative Investments, LLC, a Texas-based registered investment advisor, and represented select hedge funds and alternative investments to global institutions via an affiliation with Strait, LLC. Prior to that he was Marketing Director at Vicis Capital, LLC and responsible for the firm’s institutional introductions in the Americas, Asia and much of Europe. He also formerly was Managing Director | Institutional Sales for Asia & Europe for Kenmar Global Investment Management and Director of Global Marketing at Alpha Investment Management, LLC, a hedge fund of funds owned by Nicolas Berggruen and later acquired by Safra Asset Management, Inc. Additionally, at Alpha Investment Management, LLC Mr. Crowder established a global institutional distribution platform for the firm’s proprietary hedge fund of funds, and single hedge strategies.
Mr. Crowder holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Michigan State University.
Kenneth S. Koh, Chief Financial Officer
Kenneth Koh is the Chief Financial Officer for the firm. He provides strategic management of the accounting and finance functions and directs accounting policies, procedures and internal controls. Mr. Koh joined Rotella in 2006 as its Accounting Manager and has over 15 years of alternative investment accounting and finance experience.
Prior to joining the firm, he spent 7 years working for real estate alternative asset management firms including Bentall Kennedy (formerly Kennedy Associates), Kennedy Wilson and KLS Real Estate in the accounting and finance areas.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from University of Oregon.
Justin Wallace, Director of Trading
Justin Wallace is the Director of Trading for the firm. He oversees all trading activity and facilitates the implementation of various proprietary technology projects. Mr. Wallace joined Rotella in 2008 as a member of the trading team.
Prior to 2008 he worked at Balyasny Asset Management as trader, gaining experience in high frequency trading and working with information technology professionals to develop and implement various automated trading programs. Mr. Wallace also previously worked as an independent trader and for Xcel Energy as an energy portfolio manager.
He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington.
Lucy Rodriguez, Director of Operations
Lucy Rodriguez is the Director of Operations for the firm. Since joining the firm in 2001, she has headed the back office operations area. Ms. Rodriguez plays an instrumental role in on-boarding external relationships, including futures, foreign exchange and equity prime brokers. One of her large project responsibilities to-date was implementing the firm’s straight through processing trading reconciliation process. She has over 15 years’ experience in both the buy- and sell-side of the industry.
Ms. Rodriguez was formerly employed by Carr Futures where she gained exposure to trading and clearing operations in both the front and back offices.
Brad Ostercamp, Chief Technology Officer
Brad Ostercamp is the Chief Technology Officer for the firm. He joined Rotella in 2001 and has been part of its core technology team for over 14 years. He oversees the trading technology, database and network groups. While at Rotella Mr. Ostercamp has been part of the team responsible for rapidly evolving the technology the firm uses in trading and research and he was a proponent of and key team member who took Rotella to the straight through processing ecosystem long before our competitors.
Mr. Ostercamp also was responsible for the team that built the firm’s state-of-the-art proprietary order management system that is capable of handling the wide variety of custom order types required by the research team. Additionally, he oversaw the team that built a sophisticated research and trading platform capable of handling high frequency data. He was heavily involved in providing an efficient and scalable grid computing environment.
Kelly A. Fetzer, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer
Kelly Fetzer is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of the firm. She oversees all legal matters for Rotella and directs the compliance program. Ms. Fetzer has extensive legal, regulatory and business experience in the financial services industry, including 12+ years tackling matters specifically related to hedge funds and alternative investments.
Prior to joining Rotella, she practiced law with several Chicago area firms, including Drinker Biddle and Reath, where she counseled a wide variety of alternative investment managers on all aspects of business operations, including management organization, product and service development, marketing and regulatory compliance. She represented investment advisors, commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisors of all sizes – start-ups to multi-billion dollar managers – from across the U.S. and several foreign countries. Ms. Fetzer’s background also includes experience at Guggenheim Partners as in-house counsel for multiple affiliated investment advisors on a range of business and strategic topics in connection with on-going operations both in and outside the U.S., and she structured and led the simultaneous launch of multiple private funds.
She received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law.
